About
Project Girl is our nation’s first girl-led, art-based initiative created to enable girls to become better informed critical consumers of mass media advertising and entertainment. In other words, to become more media literate.
The purpose of Project Girl is to help all of us to become literate in all media forms—TV, internet, movies, magazines, newspapers, billboards, books, product labels, and music—with smart eyes.
Adolescent girl advisors, leading scholars, educators, media activists, health experts and artists all helped create the Project Girl media literacy curriculum, training workshops, and traveling art exhibition. Project Girl’s unique approach uses art as a means to educate, inspires, reflect, transform, and encourage social change. See www.projectgirl.org
As Co-founders we, Kelly Parks Snider (a visual media artist) and Jane Bartel (a video producer) are using our Blog – Art In Action – to get more vocal ourselves. We want you to know what’s happening, where we are and what you can do to help. Watch for posts from both of us.
